Shane Claiborne, in his article It Begins With Humility, reminds us that grace often appears where we least expect it. When he quoted a researcher as saying “God spoke to Balaam through his ass… and God’s been speaking through asses ever since” I laughed until I choked on the piece of apple in my mouth.
The conversations that you have with the Divine are as unique as your own identity, and only you can discern the next step in your journey. Spiritual direction can help with your discernment.
We descend into discomfort and there we are transformed, emerging eventually into something closer to what God intends us to be.
